IT DelhiThe Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (abbreviated IIT Delhi or IITD) is a public engineering institution located in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, India. It was founded in 1961 with the help of UNESCO and became an autonomous institute in 1963. The main campus is spread over an area of 257 hectares (640 acres). Admission to undergraduate courses at IIT Delhi is based on the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE and AIEEE. Postgraduate admission is based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Common Admission Test (CAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT) or Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). The institute has also started admitting students through the Direct Admission for Students Abroad (DASA) scheme from 2012 onwards.
