Govt. First Grade College, Vamadapadavu was started on 28th July 1992 in the premises of Government Pre-University College, Vamadapadavu. In the year 2002, it was shifted to its own building. The college premises spread in 8.55 acres of its own land. Out of this, 1.5 acres of land is donated by Sri. Subbarao. D. Kombrabail and remaining land sanctioned by Govt. of Karnataka.The College begin with the motto of providing Higher Education to the rural students. On request of public and on recognizing the need to improve the educational quality of this backward region, the chief minister Mr. Veerappa Moily gave permission to start the college in Vamadapadavu. Presently, Honourable Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Mr. B. Ramanatha Rai is very effectively guiding the college in the path of development, as the president of the College Development Council.
