The Government College of Arts and Crafts (GCAC) is a college affiliated to the University of Madras, located in Chennai, India. It was established in 1852 as one of the first art schools in South Asia. GCAC offers undergraduate courses such as Bachelor's degrees in Fine Art, Applied Art, Visual Communication Design and Animation & Multimedia; postgraduate programs like Master’s degree in Painting and Sculpture; diploma courses such as Diploma in Drawing & Painting; certificate courses including Certificate Course on Computer Graphics & Animation; and research-oriented doctoral studies. GCAC has produced some renowned artists over its long history who have gone on to become successful professionals within their respective fields.
