Colleges for Production
Specialization in production mainly revolves around doing engineering & M.B.A. courses. Specialization in production is a statistical amalgam of manufacturing technology as well as management sciences. A production specialist’s main aim is to improve the process by which the products are manufactured in the industry, keeping in mind the customers need as well. To solve organizational production and related problems industrial engineers carefully study the product and its requirements, use mathematical methods such as operations research to meet those requirements and design manufacturing and information systems. The process by which the products are being manufactured is really important for the industry since it determines the productivity index of a company. The production manager has to optimize the manufacturing processes, study the production cycle, has to look at the placement of the machine, their working time as well as concern the grievances of the working staff. A production manager also has to work on ergonomics (i.e. study of work place of the employee & making it as comfortable as possible, work ethics etc. Operation research, manufacturing management, materials management, production planning, etc., play important roles in efficient production processes & hence a production specialist plays an important role. Apart from all this a production engineer has to have a profound knowledge of mechanical manufacturing process to achieve wonders in this field. Hence the work of production analyst is interdisciplinary. Realizing the importance of this many universities & colleges are offering a dual engineering- M.B.A. programme in production engineering.
